Les Figues Press is delighted to announce Simone White as the judge for the 2018 NOS Book Contest. A prize of $1,000 and publication by Les Figues Press will be given for the judge’s winning selection. In addition, a second manuscript will be published as the 2018 NOS (Not-Otherwise-Specified) Book Contest Editors Selection. The submission period extends to 11:59pm PST on March 20.
Simone White is the author of Dear Angel of Death, Of Being Dispersed, House of Envy of All the World, and Unrest. She is Program Director at The Poetry Project (at St. Mark’s Church) and, in Spring 2018, she will be visiting associate professor of creative writing at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
Eligible submissions include: poetry, novellas, innovative novels, anti-novels, short story collections, lyric essays, hybrids, translations, and all forms not otherwise specified. Les Figues publishes — and looks forward to reading — works that exceed genre conventions. All entrants will receive a Les Figues NOS title of their choosing (see list of previous winners).
The selected manuscripts will be announced in Summer 2018, with an expected Spring/Summer 2019 publication date.
